Jesus’ work is so great that Christians come together every week to celebrate it.
"For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, 'Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,' that would not make it any less a part of the body."
1 Corinthians 12:14-16
Scripture describes the kingdom of God as a wedding feast. Like a wedding, the Line’s services are a mix of traditional, symbolic, creative, rowdy, and festive.
Each week includes traditional and symbolic elements: liturgy, preaching, communion. Each week also involves creative, rowdy, and festive elements: music, theater, creative writing, food, coffee, and visual art.
Thus, our Sunday Services are an expression of the good work Jesus is doing in us. As members of Christ's body express their gifts, the body as a whole sees his astounding work more clearly.
Most of us can improve in our appreciation of others. Fallen humanity is broken, society fragmented. All of us sooner or later find that we do not value the gifts of others as we ought. In Christ, we find we can appreciate and learn from from every part of the body.
The Line meets at 11am every Sunday morning at
The Abbey Pub, 3245 W Grace Street, Chicago.
